ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools announced Barbara Baker, science teacher at Waller Middle School, as its 2017 Teacher of the Year. Baker and her fellow honorees were selected by their colleagues and were honored at the 3rd Annual EPS Foundation Education Celebration, December 7 at Prairie View Elementary School.

The evening started with cookies and music by the school orchestra. That was followed by recognition of each nominee and videos showcasing all finalists.

Baker, selected by an anonymous community committee, will represent the district at the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year competition next fall. She has been a teacher with EPS for 13 years.

Other finalists were Nicole Davis, Joan Dodds, Ricardo Tarango, Amanda Bixby, DeeDee Brown, Brandon Beichler, Charla Harris, Sarah Owens, Susan Brinley, Zach Moneypenny, Kent Chesser, Wilma Robinson, Maisie Hinrichs, Amanda Purdy, Alyssa Plummer and Charla Good.

Enid Public Schools has also named Kathy Piper as the Support Professional of the Year. Piper is the cafeteria manager at Longfellow Middle School. She was nominated by Sam Robinson who said, "Kathy runs what I believe to be the best cafeteria in the district."
