ENID, OKLA. - Community organizers present a national program in Enid to engage, educate and connect local entrepreneurs. Founded by the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups is based on the notion that entrepreneurs network and discover solutions over a million cups of coffee. The free, monthly gathering helps build startup communities on a grassroots level.
-
Entrepreneurs, innovators, funders and other interested community members are invited to attend the event scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of each month from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Five80 Coffeehouse, located at 122 E. Randolph Avenue in Enid, Okla.
-
Come listen on Wednesday, May 22. This month’s presenter is Dylan Smith, owner of Shah Mat Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Dylan is also the recent Cherokee Strip Business Model Competition winner.
-
The program’s model is consistent in each city: At each event, early-stage startups present their companies to an audience of mentors, advisers and other entrepreneurs. Each founder presents for six minutes followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session with the audience.
-
In each 1 Million Cups city, local entrepreneurs drive the program as community organizers. Volunteering for the leadership roles in Enid are:
- Suzanne Gray, owner of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory
- Christopher Sneed, Director of Fly Film Festival and full-time student
- Kegan Tuohy, Loan Officer/Credit Analyst at BancCentral
- Meredith Westfahl, Small Business Management Coordinator at Autry Tech
- Tambi Brown, Assistant Director - Business & Industry Services at Autry Tech
- Nicole Winfield, Marketing director at Davis Law
-
“Enid has a long history of celebrating that entrepreneurial spirit!” Tuohy said. “1 Million Cups Enid will add another dimension and energy to the support for small start-up businesses that Enid is known for.”

Would you like to present?
Industry doesn't matter as long as your company is less than 5 years old and you're open to community engagement, you can apply to present at 1MC.
-
Applying is easy and takes less than 30 minutes. Once submitted, the community organizers will review your application and get back to you with any follow-up questions. You will work together to schedule a presentation date. Approval is based on local organizer discretion.
-
You'll have 6 minutes to tell our community who you are, what you're doing, and why you're doing it. See how other entrepreneurs have presented at 1MC events here. Find inspiration on creating awesome presentations by watching the Kauffman Founders School Powerful Presentations series.
-
In the 20 minute Q&A session after your presentation, you'll be given the opportunity to engage with our community to help strengthen your company. All of this leads up to the Million dollar question (see what we did there?) "What can we as a community do to help you?"
-
Bonus: You will receive additional comments/feedback from the audience that will go directly into your company profile. Apply to present here.
