They are in need of caring individuals with a heart to serve others and share their time with patients who are terminally ill and facing the last weeks and months of their lives. Many say, "What can I possibly do to help?“ Several citizens of Enid would hopefully be willing to play board or card games, run errands, clean dishes, sweep, read, do crafts, call bingo, play an instrument, bake, write letters or simply be there to listen. Whatever talent or ability they may have can benefit someone! They are looking to build a team of 5-10 volunteers. CASA Program

The Fourth Judicial District Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program needs volunteers. Classes meet at Garfield County CARE Campus, 1002 E. Broadway, Enid. Adults 21 years old or older who have a desire and the time to help abused or neglected children can call the CASA office, (580) 242-1153 or (877) 242-1153, for an application. Following an interview and a background investigation, the volunteer will be trained in family dynamics, needs of children, cultural issues, juvenile law, interview skills and court procedures as well as other topics. Upon completion of the training, the volunteer will be prepared to make recommendations to the court concerning the best interests of a child.

Enid Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis club is a group of people who care about children and want to provide a safe and quality community environment for them to grow up in. If you share these same goals, consider joining our group! Not to mention, we have that darn fun train and carousel at Meadowlake! If you want to volunteer but don’t have time to become a member you will need to get in touch with a member and have your background check done (since you will be working with children). If the check is ok you will be trained and then go on a call list for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering at the park this summer contact a member of the club.

Enter HIS Gates is a Christian based Therapeutic Riding Center located in Garber, OK about 1 1/2 miles north of Hwy 412 and about 4 miles east of Hwy 74. Historically a summer camp for youth, we are expanding to include year round riding for anyone who needs physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual healing. IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify. VITA volunteers typically help with tax preparation beginning in early February and running through the April tax filing deadline.

Jeremiah Herrian, center director, wants everyone to know they are grateful to God and the community for making this happen. The shelter currently has bunk beds for 50 residents. Various individuals and groups in the community donated pillows, sheets and blankets. Forgotten Ministries plans to keep the center open nightly during the colder months, but in March will only open in case of severe weather. Mercy House has a complete kitchen area and will provide food for those staying at the center as well as a laundry facility. If you would like to volunteer for the shelter, there is a place to sign up at http://vols.pt/FAMFQM. If you are still wondering how you can help the ministry right now, they are in need of teen and children’s Bibles. You can take your donations to the FM Center located 1714 S. 4th Street.

Program helps children either one-on-one or in small groups to improve their pysical, mental, social and academic skills. Volunteers help children achieve their school goals.
