Enid Welcome Center has moved, making way for Hilton Garden Inn

The Enid Welcome Center, home to Visit Enid in the historic Kress Building at 123 W Maine, has moved to make way for progress in downtown Enid.

Tuesday, July 30 was the ribbon cutting for the Enid Welcome Center after it moved to its new home at 201 W Owen K Garriott. The move was necessary as construction is pending on the 131-room Hilton Garden Inn, which will be attached to the new Enid Event Center.

The Chamber of Commerce showed up to cut the ribbon along with a very nice crowd of other well wishers. The Visit Enid crew had several drawings for prizes including gift baskets, OU football tickets and other donated items.

“The old building, formerly Kress Department Store and the Cherokee Strip Conference Center, brought Enid many great memories - and helped Visit Enid showcase Enid to travelers,” said Visit Enid director Marcy Jarrett. “We are looking forward to the adventures that await us in the new Enid Welcome Center at the corner of Independence and Garriott.”

The new Enid Welcome Center is located in the building that formerly housed Junior Welfare League’s Return Engagement store on the southwest corner of Garriott and Independence. The parking lot and entry door are located on the south side of the building. Out side the entry door there is a bulletin board with the latest flyers for local events and happenings.

The Enid Welcome Center is a one stop location for information on Enid and regional attractions and events as well as Enid souvenirs. Visit Enid publishes the official Enid Travel Guide as well as a weekly and quarterly calendar of Enid events. The Welcome Center also carries Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department (OTRD) official publications, including the state travel guide and state maps.
