Academy Sports Grand Opening

ENID, Okla. - Academy Sports + Outdoors opened to the public at 8:30am Friday, October 28, 2016. They will be having their Grand Opening from November 4 thru 6.

Friday, November 4 Events
· The first 150 customers (18 years or older) in line outside the store at 8:30 a.m. will receive a free Academy mystery gift card, valued between $20 and $500
· Customers will have a chance to win a George Strait autograph

Saturday, November 5 Events
· The first 500 customers in line outside the store at 8:00 a.m. will receive a free Under Armour t-shirt (ARV $19.99 – $22.99).

Sunday, November 6 Events
· The first 100 customers (18 years or older) beginning at 9:30 a.m. will receive a free Berkley Tackle bag (ARV $29.99)
· The first 500 customers will receive a free Academy® t-shirt
· Oklahoma State mascot Pistol Pete will be in attendance from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
· Free kid’s catfish fishing tank courtesy of Shakespeare
· Customers will have a chance to win prizes from TaylorMade, Spalding, Brooks, Adidas, and more!

Academy Sports and Outdoors is a lifestyle retailer with a broad assortment of quality hunting, fishing, and camping equipment along with sports and leisure products.  The Texas-based company operates over 200 stores in the U.S.

The Enid location is a 62,000 square-foot store constructed on the site of the old Walmart at 4406 W. Garriott. Academy has created 100 new jobs in Enid and is just one of three stores opening in Oklahoma this week which brings the total Oklahoma stores to 12.

The employees had a ribbon cutting ceremony in the parking lot on Thursday, October 27 to officially open the store. 30 local youth from the Denny Price YMCA were invited to be the first customers and were each given $100 gift cards to spend in the store. Academy is known throughout the South and Midwest U.S. for its wide selection of products including golf, team sports, casual and athletic footwear and apparel, hunting, fishing, camping, patio, bbq, recreation and leisure, and sports and fitness equipment and gear. The stores also provide many services including assembly and delivery, hunting and fishing licenses, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling, propane exchange and racquet stringing and have a broad selection of local professional and collegiate licensed team gear including a Fan Shop full of OU and OSU items.

Other stores joining Academy will be Ulta Beauty and Maurices. Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. is a chain of beauty stores in the United States. Ulta Beauty carries cosmetics and skincare brands, men's and women's fragrances, and hair care products. Each store is also equipped with a salon.

Maurices is a women's fashion retail chain based in Duluth, Minnesota. Founded in 1931, the chain comprises more than 900 stores in the U.S. and Canada, primarily located in shopping malls and smaller towns.

Buckle, Famous Footwear and Sprint also join the new retail area with two restaurants being constructed at the entrances of Land Run Town Center. Famous Footwear is currently open with the other retailers to open soon. Rumors are saying the eateries will be Five Guys Burgers and a Mexican restaurant from Ponca City but we have yet to confirm that.
